Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, a moderate, 4-mile hike at Oak Creek Trail. Also Monday, a moderate, 3-mile hike at Dark Badger Pass to look at the Germinids Meteor Shower. Bring a flashlight. On Tuesday, a moderately strenuous 7-mile hike with a 1,500-foot elevation game at Blue Diamond Hill. On Dec. 19, a moderate, 3-mile full moon hike at Pine Creek. Bring a flashlight (515-5367).

Around The Bend Friends: This group of people over 50, interested in hiking and related social activities, plans a three-to four-hour moderate hike each Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. To learn more about the group and the meeting place for the hike, contact 228-0773, or the club's website: www.aroundthebendfriends.com.

OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: On Saturday, story time at the visitor center, ongoing from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Also Saturday, living and preserved specimens will be on display from 10 a.m. to noon. Also Saturday, a program for 2-10 year olds on animal movements and rhythms. On Dec. 19, an ongoing program at the visitor center from 10 a.m. to noon featuring stories about the animals at Red Rock Canyon, crafts and games (515-5367).

Archaeo-Nevada Society along with the Bureau of Land Management invites volunteers to help with Red Rock Conservation projects. Visit www.archaeonevada.org.
