HIKES

Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, a moderate, 4-mile hike at Mount Charleston on the Robber's Roost trail. On Tuesday, a hike for 3-10 year olds around Red Springs to look for birds. On Friday, a 3.8-mile hike with a 1,400-foot elevation through an avalanche chute in Echo Canyon at Mount Charleston (515-5365).

Around the Bend Friends: This group of people over 50, interested in hiking and related social activities, plans a three-to four-hour moderate hike each Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. To learn more about the group and the meeting place for the hike, contact 228-0773, or the club's website: www. aroundthebendfriends.com.
