HIKES

Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, a moderate 4-mile hike to Fletcher Canyon. On Friday, a moderate 5½-mile hike on the first half of the upper Bristlecone Trail (515-5367).

Around the Bend Friends: This group of people over 50, interested in hiking and related social activities, plans a three-to four-hour moderate hike each Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. To learn more about the group and the meeting place for the hike, contact 228-0773, or the club's website: www.aroundthebendfriends.com.

OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: On Tuesday, week eight of Camp Red Rock for those 3-10 years old, featuring a visit to the petroglyph wall and around the Willow Springs trail. On Thursday, an ongoing discussion in the visitors center from 9:30-11 a.m. on the desert tortoise. On Friday, a program for 2-10 year olds about toads and frogs found in Red Rock Canyon. Also Friday, a canyon clean up is scheduled. On Saturday, story time ongoing from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Also Saturday, a nature-based art class for the entire family, ages 4 and up. No experience necessary and all supplies are provided (515-5367).

Archaeo-Nevada Society along with the Bureau of Land Management invites volunteers to help with Red Rock Conservation projects. Visit www.archaeonevada.org.
