HIKES

Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, a moderate, 4-mile hike at Lower Telephone Canyon. On Tuesday, a strenuous, six-mile hike on Bristlecone Trail. On Friday, a 6-mile moderate loop with a 750-foot elevation climb on Bristlecone Loop. On Saturday, a strenuous, 9-mile hike up Griffith Peak. A four-wheel drive vehicle is needed. Also Saturday, an easy, ½-mile walk at Corn Creek Spring. On July 11, a hike at Pine Creek (515-5367).

Around The Bend Friends: This group of people over 50, interested in hiking and related social activities, plans a three-to four-hour moderate hike each Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. To learn more about the group and the meeting place for the hike, contact 228-0773, or the club's website: www.aroundthebendfriends.com.

OTHER PROGRAMS:

Red Rock Canyon: On Tuesday, "Camp Red Rock" for children 3-10 years old. On Thursday, a talk on desert tortoise, ongoing in the visitor center from 10 a.m. to noon. On Friday, a program for 2-10 year olds on animal movements. Also Friday, a canyon clean up. On Saturday, a program for 2-10 year olds on Red Rock's exhibits (515-5367).
