HIKES

Red Rock Canyon: On Friday, a 2½-mile moderate hike along Stanley Springs. On Saturday, an easy ½-mile evening hike examining bats. On June 6, a strenuous, 6-mile hike with an elevation gain in the Spring Mountains (515-5367).

Around the Bend Friends: This group of people over 50, interested in hiking and related social activities, plans a three-to four-hour moderate hike each Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. To learn more about the group and the meeting place for the hike, contact 228-0773, or the club's website: www.aroundthebendfriends.com.

OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: On Wednesday, a presentation ongoing from 1-4 p.m. on reptiles of Red Rock Canyon. On Thursday, between 1 and 3 p.m. learn more about bighorn sheep in the visitors center. On Saturday, a program for 4-10 year olds about the birds of Red Rock Canyon. Also Saturday, specimens of animals in Red Rock Canyon will be on display from 10 a.m. to noon (515-5367).

Archaeo-Nevada Society along with the Bureau of Land Management invites volunteers to help with Red Rock Conservation projects. Visit www.archaeonevada.org.
