HIKES
Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, a moderate 4-mile hike along the Badger Pass trail of South Cottonwood. On Tuesday, a strenuous 6-mile hike with some scrambling at Terrace Canyon. On Friday, a 3- to 4-mile moderate hike at The Muffins. Also on Friday, an easy ½-mile walk at Corn Creek Spring. On Saturday, a moderate 3-mile hike from Red Spring. On Sunday, a moderately strenuous 6-mile hike at Rainbow Spring (515- 5367).
Around the Bend Friends: This group of people over 50, interested in hiking and related social activities, plans a three- to four-hour moderate hike each Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. To learn more about the group and the meeting place for the hike, contact 228-0773, or the club's Web site: www.aroundthebendfriends.com
OTHER PROGRAMS
Red Rock Canyon: On Tuesday, a 20-minute discussion ongoing from 1 to 3 p.m. at the visitor center on the geology of Red Rock Canyon. On Thursday, an ongoing program at the visitor center from 10 a.m. to noon about the desert tortoise. On Friday, a canyon clean up is scheduled. Saturday, a salon with Matthew Koepnick from the Nevada Division of Forestry. He will be discussing forestry issues, career opportunities and more (515-5367).
