HIKES

Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, a moderate, 4-mile hike up the Stanley B. Springs trail. On Friday, a moderate, 4-mile hike at Fletcher Canyon. Also Friday, a moderate, 3-mile star hike at Badger Pass. Bring a flashlight. On Saturday, a 3½-mile, moderate hike at Oak Creek Trails. Also Saturday, an easy, ½-mile hike at Corn Creek. On June 13, an easy, 3-mile hike at Red Rock Canyon's springs (515-5367).

Around the Bend Friends: This group of people over 50, interested in hiking and related social activities, plans a three-to four-hour moderate hike each Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. To learn more about the group and the meeting place for the hike, contact 228-0773, or the club's website: www.aroundthebendfriends.com.

OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: On Tuesday, an all-fun art class. No experience necessary and all supplies are included. Also Tuesday, a 20-minute program ongoing from 1-4 p.m. on fire. Wednesday, a 20-minute discussion on the repitlles of Red Rock Canyon, ongoing from 1-4 p.m. Thursday, visit the table in the visitors center from 1-3 p.m. to learn about the bighorn sheep. On Thursday, ongoing from 10 a.m. to noon in the visitors center is a discussion on the desert tortoise. Also Thursday, A program between 1 and 3 p.m. on rock art. On Friday, a program for 2-10 year olds about all of Red Rock's exhibits. Also Friday is a canyon clean up. On Saturday, a junior naturalists program for children. Also Saturday, Ronnie Wilson from the Nevada Center for the Blind will speak as part of the new Salon program. Also Saturday is an interactive program for 4-10 year olds about the birds of Red Rock Canyon. Saturday will also feature a display of Red Rock Canyon animals from 10 a.m. to noon (515-5367).
