HIKES

Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, a moderate, 4-mile hike. On Tuesday, bring your dog for a moderate, 3-mile hike to Calico Hills. Also Tuesday, a strenuous, 5-mile hike with some scrambling along the east side of Calico Hills. On Friday, a 3-mile moderate night hike into Pine Creek Canyon. Also Friday, a moderate 3.5-mile hike through Echo Canyon. On Saturday, an easy 1/2-mile hike at Corn Creek Spring (515-5367).

Around the Bend Friends: This group of people over 50, interested in hiking and related social activities, plans a three- to four-hour moderate hike each Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. To learn more about the group and the meeting place for the hike, contact 228-0773, or the club's Web site: www.aroundthebendfriends.com

OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: On Tuesday, a 20-minute discussion ongoing from 1-3 p.m. at the visitors center on predators of Southern Nevada. On Friday, a canyon clean-up project. Also Friday, a program for 2-8 year olds about cactus. The interactive program will feature a hands-on activity and a craft (515-5367).
