Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, a 12-mile hike with a steady roll but no rock scrambling or steep terrain. On Tuesday, a strenuous six-mile hike that offers plenty of scrambling opportunities. On Wednesday, an easy, half-mile hike at the Red Spring wooden boardwalk. On Friday, a moderate 4½-mile hike around the scenic Potato Knoll. On Saturday, a moderate, four-mile, full-moon hike in south Red Rock Canyon. Flashlights are required. On Sunday, a moderate, four-mile hike emphasizing wildflowers.

Around the Bend Friends: This group of people over 50, interested in hiking and related social activities, plans a three- to four-hour moderate hike each Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. To learn more, call 228-0773, or go to the club's Web site: www.

Red Rock Canyon: On Thursday, an ongoing program about the desert tortoise at the Visitor Center from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. On Friday, a program for 5- to 10-year-olds about the petroglyphs at Red Spring. On Friday, a display of animals found in the Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area, and a discussion from 10 a.m. to noon. On Saturday, a nature-based art class.
