HIKES

Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, join a geologist on a moderately strenuous, 2½-mile hike to the Lost Creek waterfall and then to Ice Box Canyon; for ages 10 and older. On Tuesday, bring a flashlight and explore the night sky on a moderate, three-mile hike to Badger Pass, one of the darkest parts of Red Rock; for ages 10 and older.

Around the Bend Friends: This group of people 50 and older who are involved in hiking and related social activities plans several hikes each week of various difficulty levels, including an easy-to-moderate social hike on Saturdays. OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: On Tuesday, join a park ranger for bird-watching in the Pine Creek Area. Bring binoculars and a field guide if you have one. Also on Tuesday, view some of the venomous animals found in Red Rock during a tabletop presentation at the visitor center.

Archaeo-Nevada Society, along with the Bureau of Land Management, seeks volunteers to help with Red Rock Canyon conservation projects. Visit www.archaeonevada.org.
