HIKES
Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, view the documentary “The Day the Earth Nearly Died,” about the great Permian mass extinction, then go on a moderately strenuous, 2½-mile hike to Fossil Ridge to see Permian-era fossils; for ages 10 and older. On Wednesday, bring a sketch book and draw some wildflowers on an easy, 1-mile walk at Lost Creek; for ages 10 and older. On Sunday, see lush green areas, wildflowers, a waterfall and maybe wildlife on a moderate, 3-mile hike to the First Creek Grotto; for ages 12 and older.

Around the Bend Friends: This group of people 50 and older who are involved in hiking and related social activities plans several hikes each week of various difficulty levels, including an easy-to-moderate social hike on Saturdays. OTHER PROGRAMS
Red Rock Canyon: On Tuesday, view some of the archaeological features found in Red Rock, or create a masterpiece in an art class for ages 15 and older. Also on Tuesday, join a park ranger for a presentation on bats, then go to Red Spring to observe them in action; for ages 15 and older. On Friday, join other volunteers to help clean up trash along a trail.
