HIKES

Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, explore the plants, wildlife and geology of the Calico Hills on a moderate, 6-mile hike; for ages 12 and older. Also on Monday, watch the full moon pass across the night sky on a moderate, 3-mile hike along the Calico I trail; for ages 10 and older. On Wednesday, bird-watch on an easy, 2- to 3-mile hike at Red Spring; for ages 12 and older. On Saturday, enjoy an easy-to-moderate, 3-mile hike to Pine Creek; for ages 6 and older. On Nov. 13, hike to the North Fork of Pine Creek, then boulder and scramble up Fern Canyon to a water feature; strenuous, 6 miles; for ages 12 and older.

Around the Bend Friends: This group of people 50 and older who are involved in hiking and related social activities plans several hikes each week of various difficulty levels, including an easy-to-moderate social hike on Saturdays. OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, learn about the animals of Red Rock in a tabletop presentation from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the visitor center. On Tuesday, create a masterpiece in an art class for ages 15 and older. Also on Tuesday, see the types of venomous animals that live in Red Rock, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the visitor center. On Saturday, kids ages 2 to 7 can learn about animal adaptations through stories, activities, music and a craft.
