Hikes

Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, observe the fall colors on a moderate, 3-mile hike along La Madre Spring trail; for ages 12 and older. Also on Monday, gaze at the night sky on a moderate, 3-mile hike to Badger Pass; for ages 10 and older. On Saturday, look for animals on an easy, half-mile hike to Corn Creek Spring. On Oct. 23, explore geology and nature on a moderate, 3.3-mile-hike to La Madre Springs; for ages 12 and older.

Around the Bend Friends: This group of people 50 and older who are involved in hiking and related social activities plans several hikes each week of various difficulty levels, including an easy-to-moderate social hike on Saturdays. OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, learn about the animals of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area in a tabletop exhibit from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the visitor center. On Tuesday, see what kinds of venomous animals live in Red Rock; from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Visitor Center. On Wednesday, make jewelry inspired by the colors of Red Rock in a class for ages 12 and older. On Saturday, kids ages 2 to 7 can learn about owls through stories, activities, music and a craft.
