DEADLINE APPROACHES

Nevada big game tag
draw closes April 19

Time is growing short for hunters to submit their applications for Nevada's 2010 big game tag draw. The application deadline is 5 p.m. April 19. Applications can be submitted online at www.huntnevada.com or through the mail if using an official paper application form.

Paper applications are available at Nevada Department of Wildlife offices or online at www.ndow.org. If using the mail, keep in mind that postmarks don't count.

Applications must arrive no later than 5 p.m. on the deadline day, reminds Martin Olson, hunter education coordinator for NDOW.

Nevada offers outdoor enthusiasts the opportunity to hunt several big game species including mule deer, three species of bighorn sheep, elk, pronghorn antelope and mountain goats. Those with a desire can hunt mountain lions, and the tag application process offers hunters the chance to purchase one of the two mountain lion tags they are allowed each year. Mountain lion tags also can be purchased over the counter at license agents statewide.
