Bowfishing class offered for those with archery experience

Anglers interested in learning about the growing sport of bowfishing can attend an introductory bowfishing class from 9 a.m. to noon June 25 at Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City.

Taught by Nevada Department of Wildlife staff, the bowfishing workshop is designed for those age 10 or older who have previous archery experience. The workshop will include a 45-minute instruction period, which will feature a discussion of safety rules and a review of basic shooting technique, followed by a hands-on shooting experience.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

Course set for men casting about for fly-fishing skills

In honor of Father's Day, the Nevada Department of Wildlife will offer a free introduction to fly-fishing for men from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday .

The two-part class will consist of a classroom session on Wednesday and a hands-on casting session Thursday. All necessary equipment will be provided.

Wednesday's class will take place at the wildlife department's Las Vegas office, 4747 Vegas Drive and will focus on fly-fishing equipment, terminology, knot tying and other basics.
