THE WATER COOLER

Here are a few things in news, sports, entertainment and popular culture that we've been talking about lately.

• Clark County commissioners will consider allowing casinos to provide day care for conventioneers' kids. Story time selections will include "Curious Sheldon," "Make Way for Chapter 11" and "Where the Tourists Aren't."

• ABC offers up a reboot, reportedly with Obamaish political undertones, of the '80s sci-fi cheesefest "V." The unexpected plot twist: Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly aren't the reptiles!

• Mattel's "Twilight" Barbies, featuring figures of Edward and Bella , hit store shelves. The Edward doll costs half as much as the Bella doll because you can play with it only after sunset.

• An Australian study says feeling sad can boost your memory. We'd be happy to hear that, but then we'd forget why.
