Here are a few of the things in news, sports, entertainment and popular culture that we've been talking about lately.

• Prior commitments keep Joe "The Plumber" Wurzelbacher from attending a trade show in Las Vegas. Just as well, since he would commit only to showing up sometime between noon and 6 p.m. and would have charged double on Saturday.

• Diddy launches his new fragrance, "I Am King," in December. If it doesn't sell, look for the follow-up: "I Am Bankrupt."

• After a Philadelphia Eagles-Cincinnati Bengals game ends in a 13-13 tie, Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb says he didn't know there were ties in the NFL. He thought the "T" in the standings meant "TV SportsCenter appearances."

• The Dallas Historical Society has found what could be an authentic copy of Abraham Lincoln's "Bixby Letter," sent to a mother who was thought to have lost five sons in the Civil War. It probably won't seem nearly as momentous when somebody unearths Barack Obama's text messages 144 years from now.
