Here are a few things in news, sports, entertainment and pop culture that we've been talking about lately.

■ Las Vegas' Smith Center for the Performing Arts reportedly tries to book the Tony Award-winning musical "The Book of Mormon." u25B6 Anybody know where we can find a tux that'll go with our Eric Cartman T-shirt?

■ Fans attending a "Star Trek" convention at the Rio set a Guinness world record for "largest gathering of people dressed as 'Star Trek' characters." Set simultaneously: The world record for "largest gathering of people with too much time on their hands."

■ Alleged new crime trend: the theft of newspapers by "extreme" couponers. Does it make us pathetic to admit that we're just happy somebody wants newspapers?
