Water Cooler: ‘Fifty Shades,’ 51s, MDA

Here are a few things in news, sports, entertainment and pop culture that caught our eye last week.

■ Nevadans will receive up to $600,000 as part of a nationwide settlement over e-book pricing. "Fifty Shades of Grey" here we come.

■ The Las Vegas 51s reportedly may become an affiliate of the New York Mets. Can't wait to see Cosmo and Mr. Met go out clubbing.

■ The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints clarifies that members aren't prohibited from drinking caffeinated soft drinks. So don't be surprised if the white-shirted guys knocking on your door seem a bit more amped up than usual.

■ The Muscular Dystrophy Association unveils its new Labor Day fundraiser: a three-hour show with pre-taped performances, no Jerry Lewis, no national tote board and no Las Vegas location. In other words: just slightly more exciting than watching the temperatures change on the Weather Channel.
