Water Cooler: Pop culture fun

Here are a few things in pop culture that caught our eye recently.

■ Las Vegas 51s ballplayers whine to the Wall Street Journal about having to play at Cashman Field. New unwritten rule of baseball: You’re not allowed to act like a spoiled major leaguer until you actually are a major leaguer.

■ Eye patch-wearing bubblegum comics character Bazooka Joe turns 60. Ever notice how you never see him and the R-J’s own Norm Clarke together? Hmm ...

■ A 64-year-old retired firefighter is arrested for drunken driving despite blowing a 0.000 blood-alcohol level (the charge later was dropped). So be careful the next time you’re driving through the aptly named town of (no joke) Surprise, Ariz.

■ Conservative broadcast firebrand Glenn Beck says he regrets having said things that divided Americans. Too little too late, because you let that horse out of the barn a long time ago, pardner.
