Water Cooler: Pop culture fun, Aug. 18

Here are a few items in pop culture that caught our eye last week.

■ Las Vegas police launch an internal investigation into a helicopter ride allegedly given to Guns N’ Roses guitarist DJ Ashba, who joined the band in 2009. Suggested guideline: Only the original members of legendary rock bands qualify for questionable freebies.

■ An Oregon couple face charges for allegedly participating in a sex act during a flight to Las Vegas. Good thing they weren’t using a cellphone or holding a 4-ounce bottle of shampoo or they’d really be in trouble.

■ Taco Bell is expanding test marketing of its waffle taco ▶, which includes scrambled eggs and sausage inside a folded waffle with a side of syrup. Can be part of a nutritious breakfast with the addition of, you know, actual food.
