Here are a few things in news, sports, entertainment and pop culture that caught our eye last week.

■ Snooki of "Jersey Shore" has a baby. The kid arrived with a fabulous tan and freakishly tight abs.

■ Sen. Harry Reid suggests changing the name of McCarran International Airport. Considering how mercenary airlines have become with fees, "Bugsy Siegel International" sounds about right.

■ Penn State decides to eliminate "Sweet Caroline" from its game-day playlist. Because Penn State officials have nothing more important to deal with right now.

■ Beloit College releases its annual list of incoming college freshmen's "cultural touchstones." Allow us to summarize: Yes, you're old.
