Water Cooler: ‘Star Wars’ figures, Twinkies, 725 area code

Here are a few things in news, entertainment and pop culture that caught our eye last week.

■ "Star Wars" action figures and dominoes are class of 2012 inductees to the National Toy Hall of Fame. Leaving passed-over nominees Magic 8 Ball surprised that it didn't see this coming, green plastic Army figures in a fighting mood, and "Clue" trying to figure out who's behind it all.

■ All local calls in Southern Nevada will require dialing 10 digits once newcomers to Southern Nevada begin receiving a new 725 area code in 2014. Forget North-South, 702-725 will be the Silver State's new social divide.

■ Snack food lovers empty store shelves of Twinkies, fearing the famous cake will vanish once manufacturer Hostess goes under. Meanwhile, Ding Dongs, Ho Hos and green Sno Balls tearfully ask: "Where's the love?"
