Wind quintet concert set

The Las Vegas Wind Quintet will present a concert of seasonal music at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Reed Whipple Cultural Center studio theater, 821 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Admission is free, but tickets are required and may be obtained by calling 229-6211 or visiting the cultural center's box office.

The program will include Johannn Sebastian Bach's "Kleines Harmonisches Labyrinth" and "Orgelwerk," two movements from Wind Quintet by Jose Ardevol, Adante and Allegro by Alexander von Keisler, "Jam Session" by Robert McBride, "Twilight Crane (Yururu) Fantasy for Woodwind Quintet" by Jack Gottlieb and "Pine Tar Rag" by Carson Rothrock.

Formed to promote appreciation for chamber music, the quintet is composed of several longtime Las Vegas musicians: clarinetist Dave Hawley, flutist Sherrie Parker, bassoonist Sam Pisciotta and horn player Doug Beasley.

They were joined last year by Mika Bronson, who plays oboe and English horn.

The concert is presented by the Arts & Community Events Division of the city of Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services.
