Woman starts operating room dance party before double mastectomy

Most women wouldn’t feel like dancing when faced with getting a double mastectomy, but that’s what a California mother did.

Deborah Cohan of San Francisco organized an operating room dance party on Tuesday, according to Fox 19. She showed off some serious moves to Beyonce’s “Get Me Bodied” and got the operating room staff to join in.

Cohan requested on her CaringBridge page that family and friends join in the dance party “wherever you happen to be” and send her photos and video.

“I have visions of a healing video montage,” she wrote. “Nothing brings me greater joy than catalyzing others to dance, move, be in their bodies.”

The video has gone viral in the three days since it was posted to YouTube, amassing nearly 4.1 million page views by Friday afternoon.

“You are the ultimate encouragement to every woman, patient and person,” one commenter wrote. “If only more people would look at life the way you do.”
