COLLEGE ADMISSIONS SEMINAR SET

A free college admissions seminar is scheduled for 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Rainbow Library, 3150 N. Buffalo Drive.

FAITH LUTHERAN FUNDRAISER SCHEDULED

Faith Lutheran Jr/Sr High School plans to host Crusader Knight, a gala fundraiser, at 6 p.m. Oct. 20 at Red Rock Resort, 11011 W. Charleston Blvd. The event will feature a silent auction, dinner and student entertainment.

Tickets are $250 per person. A $500 donation will sponsor a teacher and a guest. Sponsorship packages range from $2,500 to $25,000 for a table of 10.

PAINTED DESERT GOLF CLUB TO HOST GOLF TOURNAMENT FOR CHEFS FOR KIDS

The second annual Chefs for Kids charity golf tournament is scheduled for a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Oct. 21 at Painted Desert Golf Club, 5555 Painted Mirage Road. Chefs for Kids is a program of the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension and the American Culinary Federation Chefs of Las Vegas that aims to eliminate malnutrition and hunger in schoolchildren through education.

Registration is $120 per player. The format of the tournament is a four-person scramble.

VALLEY AUTOMALL SEEKS STUDENTS FOR ANNUAL TREE-DECORATING CONTEST

The Valley Automall is accepting entries on a first-come, first-served basis for its 15th annual tree-decorating contest, scheduled for Nov. 30.

The contest is open to student groups from all Clark County high schools. Students will decorate 20 dealer showrooms to compete for cash prizes of $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000. Teams will be provided a small budget to decorate a 10-foot-tall tree. Only one team per school will be accepted.

UNLV LIBRARIES TO HOST SOCIAL MEDIA WORKSHOP FOR ENTREPRENEURS

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas Libraries' Business by the Book Workshop Series is scheduled to continue from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with Social Media Socialized at UNLV's Lied Library, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway.

The free workshop "will familiarize business owners with tools necessary to use social media to their advantage," according to UNLV Libraries.

The workshop series teaches business owners and entrepreneurs which online resources are available at UNLV Libraries.

COMMUNITIES IN SCHOOLS OF NEVADA TO HOST FUNDRAISER DOWNTOWN

Communities in Schools of Nevada is scheduled to host its second annual Harvest for Hope from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 19 at the World Market Center, 495 S. Grand Central Parkway, Pavilion 3.

The fundraiser is set to feature dinner and an auction to help support more than 40 low-income schools in Nevada.

AMERICAN CASINO ENTERTAINMENT PROPERTIES DONATES $15,000 TO SCHOOLS

Three Clark County schools received $5,000 each from American Casino Entertainment Properties. Donations were made at a Sept. 24 ceremony at Ron's Steakhouse at Arizona Charlie's Decatur, 740 S. Decatur Blvd.

ACEP owns the Stratosphere, both Arizona Charlie's locations in Las Vegas and the Aquarius in Laughlin.

Elementary schools receiving donations were Sunrise Acres, 211 28th St.; Griffith, 324 Essex Drive; and Beckley, 3223 Glenhurst Drive. ACEP also donated $5,000 to Coyote Canyon Elementary School in Bullhead City, Ariz.

PASEO VERDE LIBRARY OFFERS HOMEWORK HELP AFTER SCHOOL

The Paseo Verde Library, 280 S. Green Valley Parkway, offers free homework help for elementary school students from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. No registration is necessary.

LAS VEGAS ACADEMY SCHEDULES PERFORMING ARTS COLLEGE FAIR

Las Vegas Academy, 315 S. Seventh St., is scheduled to host the Las Vegas Performing and Visual Arts College Fair from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 24. The event is free and open to the public.

The National Association for College Admission Counseling is sponsoring the event to allow college-bound students to meet with admission representatives from colleges, universities, studios, festivals and other educational institutions with visual and performing arts programs. Students will learn about admission and financial aid, portfolio days, auditions, student life and more.

SCHOOL BOARD TRUSTEE TO HOST MEET-AND-GREET WITH PARENTS

District D School Board Trustee Lorraine Alderman's next Making Connections event is scheduled for 9:30 to 11 a.m. Oct. 25 at La Bonita Supermarkets, 2500 E. Desert Inn Road.

The event will allow parents to meet with Alderman without an appointment to share comments, suggestions and concerns. Spanish translation will be available.

SMITH MIDDLE SCHOOL TO HOST MUSIC IN THE PARK

Smith Middle School, 1301 E. Tonopah Ave., plans to host its second annual Music in the Park event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 3.

The event is set to feature food, family activities and music from local artists and high school groups.
