This school year the Clark County School District tested financial literacy programs at 12 high schools around the Las Vegas Valley, including the $mart Program, a series of web-based educational lessons by Washington, D.C.-based developer EverFi.

East Timor is a small country plagued with poverty in Southeast Asia. Clark High School student Nicolas Vaughn is trying to spur its economy by forming a club at the school that serves as a microbank, providing small loans to East Timorese.
