(AP) - Two 11-year-old boys have been sentenced to community service and a year of probation in a rock throwing incident that killed six newborn kittens in Las Vegas.
The boys appeared Tuesday in Clark County Family Court, where Judge William Voy also ordered them to attend school, write an essay about how to properly treat animals, and not associate with each other.
Police say neighbors heard breaking glass at a Las Vegas apartment complex on Oct. 9. Witnesses say they saw the two throwing rocks against a building before running from the area.
The boys were later booked into juvenile hall.
Authorities say the duo had been throwing rocks at a mother cat that was giving birth, and her kittens ultimately died.
