35 arrests — but only one stolen bike — during Laughlin River Run

Only one motorcycle was stolen during the 33rd annual Laughlin River Run bike rally.

The event, which ended Sunday after five days, is held every year near the Colorado River. Some riders head into Arizona on U.S. Route 66, stopping in Oatman or Kingman.

Las Vegas police reported 35 arrests during the event: 27 on misdemeanor charges, three on gross misdemeanors and five involving felonies. More than half of the 285 traffic citations were handed out in Laughlin, while the rest were in Searchlight.

Three of the five felony arrests made at the event were on outstanding warrants. A fourth involved coercion with force, kidnapping and battery. The fifth arrest involved possession of cocaine and trespassing.

Two of the three gross misdemeanor arrests were for concealed weapon carries other than a firearm: one person drew a dirk and a second was carrying a knife, police said. The third arrest was for possession of drugs without a prescription.

There were five misdemeanor DUI arrests, seven disorderly conduct arrests, two jaywalking arrests and five arrests for obstructing a police officer. The rest of the 27 arrests were for trespassing, begging, resisting a police officer, and giving false information to an officer.

Only four traffic accidents were reported to Las Vegas police during the five-day event.
