UNLV BEVERAGE CLUB PLANS
ROCK AND BREW AT HARD ROCK HOTEL
The Beverage Club at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas plans to host a second edition of Brew UNLV titled "Rock and Brew," an event that will be half beer festival and half music experience, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. May 11 at the Hard Rock Hotel, 4455 Paradise Road.
More than 60 different local and national beers will be available for attendees to sample around the Breathe Pool. A top-level lounge will feature music performances, more beers and barbecue food from Hard Rock Hotel chefs. Scheduled musical entertainment includes headliner Play for Keeps, Summit Grove, DJ Sousay and DJ Michael Uriarte. The event will be hosted by comedian Cherise and Brew UNLV founder Ryan Wieczorek.
Proceeds from ticket sales will go to the UNLV Beverage Club. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at brewunlv.com.
MARTORANO'S TO HOST BENEFIT
FOR KEEP MEMORY ALIVE AT RIO
Celebrity chef Steve Martorano plans to celebrate five years of his restaurant Martorano's at the Rio, 3700 W. Flamingo Road, by hosting a benefit for Keep Memory Alive at 6 p.m. May 18.
The event will feature Italian wine pairings and is set to begin with a cocktail reception at 6 p.m., followed by a seated dinner at 7 p.m.
Four courses will be presented family-style. The highlight will be trio of veal chop Marsala cooked in Sicilian Marsala wine, Chicken Downtown with spinach and mushrooms and a broccoli rabe dish.

Embers Grille + Spirits in Boca Park, 740 S. Rampart Blvd., recently announced a new spring menu under the direction of executive chef Aaron Klafter-Phillips.
Updated appetizers include roasted garlic hummus with grilled pita bread, goat cheese crostinis with roasted fennel and fig, and bacon-wrapped dates. New salads include seared ahi tuna salad and grilled steak salad. Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, 8721 W. Charleston Blvd., plans to serve a Mother's Day brunch menu from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 13.

Metro McDonald's plans to host an after-hours grand opening celebration that will be open to the public from midnight to 6 a.m. Friday. The event is set to feature a red carpet, DJ Cyberkid spinning music, Las Vegas showgirls and celebrity servers. Prize-filled balloons with chances for free food and show tickets also are planned. Ten percent of the proceeds from food purchased from midnight to 4 a.m. will go to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Las Vegas.

Leticia's Mexican Cocina, 7585 Norman Rockwell Lane, No. 1, in the Village of Centennial Springs, plans to host its third annual Cinco de Mayo Fiesta and Carnival Friday through Sunday.
Rides and midway games are planned, along with live music and entertainment, and food and drinks.
The event is set to kick off at 5 p.m. Friday with DJ Drastick, Jose Cuervo Tequila models, professional folkloric dancers and free giveaways. The fiesta is scheduled to continue from 2 p.m. to midnight Saturday, with more folkloric presentations, parades, mariachis and live bands playing the sounds of Santana and top 40. From 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, more performances, food and fun are planned.
The fiesta is set to feature full bars and traditional festival food such as street tacos, grilled corn, tamales, taquitos, churros and sopapillas. A VIP champagne reception is planned for 6 p.m. The event will help raise funds to support SOS's efforts to end childhood hunger in the Las Vegas Valley and across the nation.
More than 35 of the city's chefs and restaurants plan to participate, including chef Carlos Guía of Wynn Las Vegas' The Country Club ---- A New American Steakhouse, Taste of the Nation chairman; Fleur by Hubert Keller, Alizé at The Top of The Palms, Society Café at Wynn Las Vegas, Scarpetta at the Cosmopolitan, N9NE Steakhouse and Nove Italiano at the Palms, Sushi Roku at The Forum Shops at Caesars and Tao/Lavo at The Venetian and Palazzo.
In addition to food and drinks, a silent auction and live auction are planned. Area charities that will benefit from this year's event are Three Square food bank, Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada, UNCE Chefs for Kids and Project MANA.
Tickets are $100 for general admission and $125 for VIP, which includes the reception, early entrance to the event and a gift bag.

ROY'S WINE CLUB TO MEET
Roy's Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine, 620 E. Flamingo Road, plans to host a waina hui (wine club) tasting from 5 to 6:30 p.m. May 18.
Each tasting features a sampling of Roy's signature appetizers. Members receive a wine glass, an invitation to all wine club events, an invitation to Roy's select seasonal events, a 10 percent reduction on bottled wine purchased at Roy's and reduced pricing for select Roy's wine dinners.
The cost to attend a tasting is $20 for wine club members and $25 for nonmembers.

FOOD TRUCK THROWDOWN SET FOR MAY 20 AT TIVOLI VILLAGE
A Food Truck Throwdown is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 20 at Tivoli Village, 400 S. Rampart Blvd.
Five Tivoli Village restaurants plan to collaborate with chefs from gourmet food trucks to compete in a culinary showdown. Each team will be given the challenge of creating a dish combining both food styles and presenting their dish to a panel of celebrity judges. Restaurant and food trucks set to participate are Petra Greek Taverna and Slidin' Thru, Bottles & Burgers and Chi-Town Hustlers, Kabuki Japanese Restaurant and Fukuburger, Leoné Café and Tasty Bunz, and Radio City Pizzeria and Haulin' Balls.

PLANS BREWFEST MAY 26
Barley's Casino and Brewing Co. plans to host its annual Brewfest from 2 to 8 p.m. May 26 at 4500 W. Sunset Road.
More than a dozen breweries plan to offer beer tastings, including Red Rock German-style lager, Blue Diamond Helles-style lager and Boulder Gold Hefeweizen.
Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Smoked barbecue will be $5 per item. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Beer 4 Boobs, an organization that provides funding to help fight breast cancer and help those living with the illness.
