Apartment complex under construction destroyed by fire

A fire that destroyed an apartment complex under construction early Wednesday morning has been deemed suspicious by Henderson fire officials.

Two 16-unit apartment buildings on Wigwam Parkway, near Gibson Road, in Henderson went up in flames at about 4:20 a.m. It took 55 firefighters about an hour to put out the blaze, Battalion Chief Jeff Lytle said.

The fire caused about $1 million in damages, according to a Henderson Fire Department news release. No injuries were reported.

Lytle said fire investigators are on site to determine the cause of the fire, which he called suspicious. The fact that no workers were on site and there were no heat sources, like wiring, in the building, leads Henderson fire officials to believe that something was brought in to start the fire.
