Apartment fire leaves one dead

A woman died Wednesday morning after an apartment fire in downtown.

Las Vegas Fire Department spokesman Tim Szymanski said the woman died in a bedroom fire about
3:30 a.m. on Stewart Avenue near 13th Street.

The fire was caused by careless smoking, he said.

Two other people were displaced. The fire caused $20,000 in damage.

The county coroner's office will identify the woman.
