Boy, 2, injured in pit bull attack

A 2-year-old boy was hospitalized Friday after being bitten by the family pit bull, Las Vegas police said.

Department spokesman Bill Cassell said a family member called police shortly after 3 p.m. saying that the dog had bitten the boy at a home on the 6500 block of Coffeeville Creek Drive, near Hollywood Boulevard and Vegas Valley Drive.

The boy suffered bites to his face and neck and was in critical condition at a hospital, Cassell said.

Animal control officials removed the dog from the home.
