Clark County to open cooling stations Friday

Prompted by the triple-digit heat, Clark County cooling stations will open today .
The following locations will open today :
■ Cambridge Recreation Center, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., 3930 Cambridge St.
■ Dula Gymnasium, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., 441 E. Bonanza Road.
■ Hollywood Recreation Center, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., 1650 S. Hollywood Blvd.
■ Islamic Society of Nevada, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., 4730 E. Desert Inn Road.
■ Stupak Community Center, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., 251 W. Boston Ave.
■ Walnut Recreation Center, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., 3075 N. Walnut Ave.
SUMMER SHELTERS
Catholic Charities and the Salvation Army serve as the county's summer day shelters and are open seven days a week throughout the summer:
■ Catholic Charities, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., 1501 N. Las Vegas Blvd. For men only.
■ The Salvation Army, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., 31 W. Owens Ave. For adults only.
■ The Shade Tree, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., 1 W. Owens Ave. For women and children only.

The cooling stations are in addition to the Southern Nevada Regional Planning Coalition's Inclement Weather Shelter Program, which provides seasonal shelter on an as-needed basis.
The program provides funding for long-term day shelters during the summer.
