SALVATION ARMY CULINARY CHALLENGE
SET FOR MAY 16 AT LE CORDON BLEU

The Salvation Army Culinary Challenge is planned for 6 to 8 p.m. May 16 at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, 1451 Center Crossing Road.

The “Chopped-”style contest plans to pit two Le Cordon Bleu students against two of The Salvation Army’s Culinary Vocational Program students. They will prepare an appetizer, an entree and a dessert from surprise items in a basket, and those items will be things normally given away through The Salvation Army food pantry. The Culinary Academy of Las Vegas plans to offer cooking workshops May 18 and June 15 at the Springs Cafe at the Springs Preserve, 333 S. Valley View Blvd.

Learn how to grill and cook vegetables found at the local farmers market and the slow and low art of smoked meats. MARGARITAVILLE PLANS SPECIAL BURGERS FOR NATIONAL BURGER MONTH

Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville at the Flamingo, 3555 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is offering special burgers through June 2 in honor of National Hamburger Month. Each Margaritaville executive chef submitted a recipe, and fans voted on Facebook for the most delicious-sounding burger. Out of the 10 submissions, five were chosen by fans.
