Downtown Arts district to host first Friday

The monthly First Friday arts festival is slated from 6 to 11 p.m. in the 18b Arts District downtown. This month's festival is scheduled to host Las Vegas Science Festival-sponsored activities from 6 to 9 p.m. in the kid's fun zone at the corner of Casino Center Boulevard and Colorado Avenue. Participating galleries include:

n The Brett Wesley Gallery, 1112 S. Casino Center Blvd., plans to showcase "Coming of Age" by Kristine McCallister and "Stabiles" by Robert Arnold through May 26.

n Joel Spencer's "Subtraction" and "Santa Monica" are scheduled to be on display at the Trifecta Gallery, inside The Arts Factory, 107 E. Charleston Blvd.

n The Jenny Valdez Inc. Gallery inside The Arts Factory plans to present works revolving around tea from various artists.

n The City of the World, 1229 S. Casino Center Blvd., plans to present the work of Sean Jones in the main gallery.

n Blackbird Studios, 1551 S. Commerce St., plans to present Mike and Dasha Biggs' "Emergence."

n Students from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and the College of Southern Nevada plan to showcase "Object - Builders of the Future Unite: The Sequel" in the Rotunda Gallery inside the Clark County Government Center, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway, through May 18.

n Tasty Space inside Emergency Arts, 520 Fremont St., plans to show Jelaine Faunce's "The Inevitable Mouth Watering: Small Treats, Big Treats, and Neon Streets."

n Counterspace inside Emergency Arts plans to show "Stranger Bond: new work by Yasmina Chavez."
