The Architectural and Decorative Arts Society plans to host its third annual celebration of mid-century modern architecture and lifestyle with a Mid-Mod Weekend. The schedule includes a sock hop from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday at the Alexis Park Hotel, 375 E. Harmon Ave., a symposium from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the El Cortez, 600 Fremont St., and a double-decker bus tour of mid-century modern neighborhoods from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. The Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Guild of Organists plans to open its 2012-13 organ recital series with a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Christ Church Episcopal, 2000 S. Maryland Parkway, featuring Richard Elliott, organist for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in Salt Lake City. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, the Curtis Institute of Music, the Peabody Conservatory and Catholic University of America, Elliott taught at Brigham Young University prior to his appointment at the tabernacle.

An opening reception for the informational art exhibit "Seduction of the Innocent," curated by Pj Perez in conjunction with the Vegas Valley Comic Book Festival, is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Alternate Reality Comics, 4110 S. Worth a Drive

Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, 15 miles west of Las Vegas on state Route 159, is set to host its annual Civil War Days re-enactment Friday through Sunday. Friday is set aside as an education day with groups demonstrating traditional roles from the era from noon to 3 p.m. Battles are scheduled at 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The final battle is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Sunday. The park entrance fee is $7 per car for Nevada residents. Entrance into the re-enactment camps is $5 for adults, $3 for children 6 to 17 and free for children 5 or younger. Bring in two nonperishable food items to receive $1 off one adult ticket. Halloween and harvest

The Springs Preserve Haunted Harvest, featuring a haunted house, trick-or-treat stations, carnival games, live entertainment and a petting zoo, is scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday at the Springs Preserve, 333 S. Valley View Blvd. In addition, KSNE-FM, Sunny 106.5, plans its annual Safe Street trick-or-treating event at Haunted Harvest from 4 to 8 p.m. Halloween night, Oct. 31.
