Fire at vacant house causes $125,000 in damage

A vacant home suffered $125,000 in fire damage early Tuesday morning, according to the Las Vegas Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to multiple calls reporting that the house at 5404 Rock Creek Lane, near Ann Road and Jones Boulevard, was on fire.

It took firefighters about 40 minutes to extinguish the flames, fire officials said. The fire destroyed the garage and damaged much of the second floor.

No injuries were reported.

Neighbors said that while the house had been vacant for the past four or five months, someone had been staying there more recently. Officials believe the individual had been stealing utilities from nearby homes.
