January 2, 2013 - 7:35 am
A fire tore through an auto body garage Tuesday night, according to Clark County fire officials.
Firefighters responded to a call about 9 p.m. at 3375 Pinks Place, near Desert Inn Road and Polaris Avenue, and arrived to heavy smoke and fire coming from the garage.
According to Deputy Fire Chief Russ Cameron, the fire jumped to the cooling units on the roof of the building. Firefighters were able to control and extinguish the fire before it could spread to the office of the building or to any nearby businesses.
One person sustained minor injuries from the fire and did not need to be transported to the hospital.
Investigators believe that the fire started in the garage while a vehicle was being welded, and it quickly spread throughout the shop.
Damage from the fire is estimated at $300,000.
