Foothill High band picked for 2014 Macy’s Thanksgiving parade

A Southern Nevada band will be one of 10 taking to the streets of New York City for the 2014 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Macy’s parade officials announced the news Friday to the Foothill High School band in Henderson.

The school’s ensemble was chosen from hundreds of applicants for the spot in the nationally televised parade.

Officials with the parade said they worked secretly with band director Travis Pardee to surprise members with the news on Friday.
