Henderson police announce plan to crack down on impaired driving

Henderson police plan to crack down on impaired drivers from Sunday through Nov. 3, the department announced Thursday.

Traffic officers from Henderson and surrounding jurisdictions will “join forces” in reminding drivers that “the best treat is a safe and sober ride home after a Halloween party.” They will be looking for drivers under the influence of alcohol and drugs, police said.

Witnesses who suspect someone of driving under the influence should call 911 and describe the vehicle, the direction it is headed and provide the license plate number, police said.

Out of the 117 traffic fatalities in Clark County so far in 2014, 27 came from alcohol related crashes, according to data from the Nevada Department of Public Safety.

Designated driver services in Clark County include www.bemydd.com and www.designateddriversinc.com, according to AAA. Prices vary.
