Improvements approved for Black Mountain Aquatic Complex

The pool deck at the Black Mountain Aquatic Complex needs repairs, and the Henderson City Council awarded a contract Tuesday that will get the ball rolling.

CB Construction of Henderson was awarded a $69,000 contract to refurbish the pool deck. The project budget also includes $7,000 in contingency funds.

According to background information provided with the agenda item, the deck needs resurfacing and a color coat "for the safety and enjoyment of users. The primary reason for the color-coat, other than aesthetics, is to seal the deck to prevent water from getting under the texture coat."

Water under the texture coat would result in costly repairs, according to the background information. "Once repaired and resurfaced, the pool deck will last approximately 3 to 5 years before requiring a color-coat to maintain its life expectancy of 10 years."
