Las Vegas charities to serve free Thanksgiving dinners

Local charities will serve free Thanksgiving dinners to thousands of homeless and needy people this week.
The Las Vegas Rescue Mission plans to serve 1,500 holiday meals from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at its campus at 480 W. Bonanza Road at E Street.
Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada, meanwhile, is preparing to feed a traditional Thanksgiving dinner to about 2,000 people on Thursday. The charity will begin serving at 9 a.m. in its dining room at 1501 Las Vegas Boulevard North at Foremaster Lane.
