Man, 25, killed as cars collide at intersection

A Friday night crash left a 25-year-old man dead at the intersection of Sahara Avenue and Jones Boulevard, police said.

The man, driving a Ford Mustang westbound on Sahara at about 10 p.m., collided with a Ford Escort and spun sideways, hitting a light pole with the driver's side of the vehicle, police said. The man's identity has not been released.

Witnesses told police the Mustang ran a red light at the intersection. The Escort was southbound on Jones when the collision occurred. The accident remains under investigation.

The driver of the Mustang was pronounced dead at the scene, and two passengers were taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The driver and two passengers of the Escort received minor injuries.

Las Vegas police said it was the 28th traffic-related fatality this year.
