Man found dead after house fire

A man was found dead after a fire at 632 N. 9th Street late Wednesday, officials said.

Las Vegas firefighters responded to several calls around 11 p.m. and evacuated three nearby houses because of the intensity of the flames.

The fire came from the second story of a concrete apartment building near Bonanza Road and Maryland Parkway. Officials said the fire was controlled within five minutes, and the man was found dead on the floor of a bedroom next to a bed.

The fire was confined to that bedroom and damage is estimated at $75,000. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Two adults and two children who live in the building were displaced.

The identity of the man and cause of death will be released by the Clark County Coroner's office.
