A 40-year-old man was killed Thursday evening after the car he was driving struck a pole.

Las Vegas police said the man, whose name was not released, crashed just before 7 p.m. when his 2007 Nissan Sentra swerved into a pole on Desert Inn Road near Cabana Drive in the southeast valley.

The man may have suffered a medical episode, police said. He died at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center. No one else was injured.
