Meeting to discuss apartment plan near The District

Representatives for the developer of a controversial plan to build 438 apartments next to The District near the Green Valley Ranch Resort will host a meeting at 6:30 tonight to address concerns previously raised by neighbors.

Attorney Thomas Amick, whose firm represents builder The Calida Group, encourages nearby residents to attend the meeting before it goes to the Henderson Planning Commission.

The previous plan for the area called for a mixed-use development of 360 condominiums and commercial developments including two non-gaming hotels and an area for retail and restaurants.

Neighbors at a Sept. 27 meeting expressed several concerns, particularly regarding the effect the development would have on nearby schools.

"We encourage people to come," said Amick. "We want to address their concerns."

The discussion will take place in the Del Sol meeting room at the hotel-casino, 2300 Paseo Verde Parkway.
