Nevada’s public schools to be focus of NewsFeed breakfast
Education leaders will discuss the state of Nevada’s public schools and how that affects the Silver State’s business climate and workforce at the next NewsFeed breakfast at the Four Seasons Hotel on Tuesday.
The breakfast series, aimed at igniting conversations about important community issues, is sponsored by the Las Vegas Review-Journal and the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce.
This session will feature Review-Journal senior editorial writer and columnist Glenn Cook, who will moderate the discussion with Clark County School District Superintendent Pat Skorkowsky, Education Trust President Kait Haycock and Nevada State Board of Education Vice President Allison Serafin.
“Public education is the dominant issue of the 2015 Legislature and the dominant issue in economic development,” Cook said. “The panel discussion will address what Nevada schools are doing right now to improve student achievement, and what they need going forward to meet the ambitious education goals set by Gov. Brian Sandoval and state and local leaders.”
The panel will tackle several questions, including what is holding back K-12 education in Nevada.
Previous NewsFeed breakfasts have featured legislative leaders from both sides of the political aisle.
The event will begin at 7:30 a.m..
