North Las Vegas man hit by car in June dies

North Las Vegas police reported Thursday that a man hit by a car in June later died of those injuries.

Billy Collins, a 63-year-old North Las Vegas resident, was walking on the shoulder of Gowan Road, near Simmons Street, June 3 when a truck left its travel lane and hit him, police say.

Collins was taken to University Medical Center, where he first appeared to only have minor lacerations. However, police report that his health declined and he died on June 10.

The Clark County coroner ruled that he died of blunt force trauma and internal injuries from being hit.

Investigators said alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash and the 19-year-old driver has not been charged.

This is the second traffic fatality in North Las Vegas this year.
