Officials identify two involved in murder-suicide
The Clark County Coroner's Office has identified two people involved in a murder-suicide in North Las Vegas earlier in the week.
Alberto Gutierrez Jr., 44, was the man who apparently killed himself inside his apartment hours after he fatally shot Hamlet Similien, 22, a neighbor, and wounded a woman who friends say owed him money.
Both were residents of the Cheyenne Park Villa condo complex, at 3333 E. Cheyenne Ave.
The case is under investigation by the North Las Vegas police department.
Police have not yet released the name of the woman who survived the incident, which occurred early Wednesday morning and forced the evacuation of residents due to a standoff between police and Gutierrez.
According to arrest records, Similien was arrested on robbery and assault charges in September 2012.
